Cyril Blake / Gilbert Print

The Cyril Blake is an annual Foursomes knockout competition across East and West Sussex, organised by Sussex Golf. This is the most prestigious event that we, the Chi Vets, compete in each year.

It is an extremely tough competition, open to players over 55 years old, who represent their clubs in teams of 5 pairs. 18 holes of Foursomes makes this match play competition very sociable but still very competitive

The format of the Cyril Blake is Foursomes Knockout with the first two rounds being drawn in February. The winners progress into later rounds, while the losing teams from the first two rounds are automatically entered into the Gilbert Print "Plate" competition, which then runs in parallel with the main tournament.

Chi Vets have previously won both the Cyril Blake and the Gilbert Print, in 2016 and 2022 respectively, and it would be great if we could get a strong competitive team together and try and do well this year.

We intend to play at least two internal practice matches ahead of the first round (April 27th) to refamiliarise all of us with the idiosyncrasies of Foursomes and to try and establish our best pairings. These practices would be on a Monday or Friday depending on availability of the majority.
